Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our physiotherapy services and treatments.

What should I expect during my first physiotherapy session?

Your first session typically includes a comprehensive assessment where we'll discuss your medical history, current symptoms, and goals. We'll perform physical examinations to evaluate your mobility, strength, and areas of pain. Based on this assessment, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan and begin initial treatment if time allows. Plan for about 60 minutes for this initial consultation.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies based on your specific condition, its severity, and how your body responds to treatment. Some patients experience significant improvement after 3-6 sessions, while chronic conditions may require longer-term care. During your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will provide an estimated treatment timeline, which we'll adjust as you progress.

Do I need a doctor's referral to book a physiotherapy appointment?

No, you don't need a doctor's referral to see our physiotherapists. We accept direct bookings from patients. However, if you're planning to claim through insurance, some providers require a referral letter, so it's best to check with your insurance company beforehand. If needed, we can communicate with your doctor about your treatment plan.

Is physiotherapy painful?

Physiotherapy shouldn't be excessively painful, though you might experience some discomfort during certain treatments or exercises, especially when working on injured areas. Our therapists always work within your comfort levels and adjust techniques based on your feedback. Some techniques like deep tissue massage or joint mobilizations may cause temporary soreness, but this typically subsides quickly. Always communicate with your therapist about your pain levels during treatment.

What should I wear to my physiotherapy appointment?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that allow for movement and provide access to the area being treated. For lower body issues, shorts or loose sweatpants are ideal. For upper body concerns, tank tops or t-shirts work well. Athletic wear is generally perfect for physiotherapy sessions. We can also provide gowns or shorts if needed. Comfortable athletic shoes are recommended for exercises.
